Plain-language reference

The Clue & Teacup glossary

What the site means when it talks about editions, marketplaces, spoilers and evidence.

Abridged

A recording shortened from the complete text. The indexed UK English recordings are listed as unabridged, but always recheck the live edition.

Audiobook edition

One specific recording with its own language, narrator, runtime, publisher and regional availability.

Canonical URL

The preferred address search engines are asked to treat as the main version of a page.

Coopers Chase

The fictional retirement community at the heart of The Thursday Murder Club series.

Cosy crime

A broad publishing label often associated with community, character and puzzle-led mysteries. It does not guarantee an absence of violence or grief.

Forthcoming

Officially announced but not yet published on the date the page was checked.

Hreflang

Metadata connecting equivalent pages in different languages or regional versions.

ISBN

A number identifying a particular print or ebook edition—not every format of the same title.

Marketplace

A country or regional retailer catalogue. Availability can differ even when the spoken language is the same.

Narrator handover

The English Thursday Murder Club audiobooks move from Lesley Manville on books one and two to Fiona Shaw from book three.

Original summary

A description written for this guide rather than copied from a publisher blurb.

Series order

The publication sequence within one series. Richard Osman’s two mystery series do not need to be interleaved.

Spoiler boundary

A visible statement describing how far a hidden section may reveal story developments.

Verified

Checked against the named source on the stated date; not a promise that a live catalogue will never change.
