À propos The Clue & Teacup
An independent, unofficial reader’s guide. This page explains how facts, recommendations, commercial links, translations, images and corrections are handled.
Independence at a glance
Editorial recommendations are made for usefulness, not commission.
Known facts, reported information, inference and unconfirmed details are kept distinct.
How the guide is made
Politique éditoriale
Editorial policy
Pages should help a reader choose, understand or enjoy a book. We favour specific comparisons, reading order, edition identity and accessible alternatives over sales language. Commercial relationships do not determine inclusion or ranking.
Factual sourcing
Publication and edition facts are checked against publishers first. Audio facts use the exact retailer listing and marketplace. Adaptation facts use the production company, distributor or named streaming service. Secondary reporting is labelled and never upgrades a rumour to fact.
Spoiler policy
Navigation, cards and ordinary summaries stay spoiler-light. Plot outcomes and later-book developments belong behind a clearly labelled disclosure. The label should identify the series and furthest book covered before the reader opens it.
Translation policy
Translated titles and recording details are stored separately by language and region. Human verification is preferred. AI-assisted draft translations are labelled as partial, never treated as bibliographic evidence, and retain English text where confidence is insufficient.
Corrections policy
A correction needs the page, current wording, proposed wording and a reliable source. Material factual changes should record what changed and when; differences between editions are preserved rather than flattened into one “correct” value.
Review copies and gifts
No review copies, travel, gifts or hospitality have been received. If that changes, the relevant page will disclose who supplied what. Receipt will not guarantee coverage or a positive opinion.
Money and influence
Commercial-link policy
Affiliate policy
Audible and retailer links currently earn no commission. If tracking is enabled, every affected page and call-to-action will say so before the link. A commission would not increase the reader’s stated price, but prices and membership terms remain the retailer’s responsibility.
Advertising policy
The site currently carries no paid display advertising, sponsorship or advertorial. Any future paid placement must be visibly labelled “Advertisement” or “Sponsored”, kept out of editorial rankings and separated from surrounding copy.
Editorial versus commercial
Ordinary source and navigation links are editorial. A future commission-bearing button will use explicit affiliate wording and a nearby disclosure. No link is allowed to look neutral while secretly serving a commercial purpose.
Authorship, copyright and art
Content and rights policy
AI-assistance disclosure
AI tools have assisted with code, page structure, draft copy, translation scaffolding and original decorative imagery. Factual claims are not accepted merely because an AI supplied them; they require a cited source or an explicit unconfirmed label. Editorial responsibility remains with the site owner.
Copyright and quotations
Book text, cover art, publisher copy, film imagery and audio remain their owners’ property. This site uses original summaries and short, attributed quotations only where necessary for commentary. It does not reproduce chapters, audiobooks, screen footage or substantial extracts.
Fan-art policy
Fan art must be original, clearly unofficial, non-deceptive and credited with the artist’s permission. It may not be presented as licensed merchandise or reuse protected cover, cast or promotional imagery without permission. A rights holder or artist may request review or removal through the owner contact route once supplied.
The yellow detective-duck identity, crime-library banner and themed scene illustrations are AI-assisted original site assets, art-directed for this guide. Book covers are represented by original typographic placeholders rather than copied jacket art. Any future third-party image will carry a creator, source and licence credit beside it or in a linked ledger.
Names and trademarks
Richard Osman, book and series titles, Penguin, Audible and Netflix are used nominatively to identify works and services. Their names, logos and trademarks belong to their respective owners. The Clue & Teacup is not endorsed by them.
Data
Confidentialité and cookie policy
What this version stores
The site has no accounts, mailing list, submitted contact form, advertising pixels or owner-installed analytics. Reader settings, shelf progress and rankings use local browser storage and stay on that device unless the reader copies them elsewhere.
Cookies
The site’s own code does not set optional advertising or analytics cookies. Essential hosting and security systems may process connection data independently. If consent-requiring cookies are added, they must remain off until the reader makes a choice and this policy is updated.
External links
Following a publisher, retailer, library or streaming link leaves this site. That organisation then applies its own privacy, cookie, account and regional-availability rules.
Inclusive use
Accessibility statement
We aim for WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic headings and landmarks, keyboard access, visible focus, sufficient contrast, meaningful link text, a skip link, responsive layouts, reduced-motion respect and language metadata. Decorative images use empty alternative text; informative images describe purpose rather than appearance alone.
Known limitations: non-English sections are partial translations; third-party destinations are outside our control; and no direct accessibility-feedback inbox has yet been supplied. The reader tools include larger text, dark mode and reduced-motion preferences.
Evidence ledger
Core source ledger
Every factual page should show a page-specific source or checking note. These are the main source families used across the site; live catalogues can change after the recorded date.

Prepare a correction
